I thought this week post the pattern for my own favourite snowflake so far – THE STARBURST SNOWFLAKE. I made it the same autumn as the Feather and Tosne ones and it’s the one that has brought me the most joy personally. When I was contemplating the name for it the other day I was looking at the blocking mat where I had lots of snowflakes pinned out and when looking at the dark grey version of this it really looked like the star was radiance itself.
As with the other snowflakes I make this one with 3-ply linen yarn from a shop on Etsy and a 2 mm hook. I love linen yarn. It is considered more eco-friendly in its manufacturing than cotton and it gives a much more rustic look. It is also naturally quite stiff, which is good when hanging snowflakes! Having said that I do stiffen my snowflakes with a mixture of PVA glue and water. It does roughen them a bit, but when making them for sale they really need to be hanging well.
You’ll find the pattern below in both UK and US terms. For abbreviations please see my page Crochet Terms. Please remember that this is my design and copyright. If you make to sell I would appreciate if you credit me as the designer and please do not copy the pattern or present it as your own – thanks!
You can now buy a PDF file with the pattern for this Large Tosne Snowflake and my 11 other snowflake patterns in my Etsy shop or my Ravelry Store for a small sum. The file contains photo tutorials for some of the patterns and details of all special stitches needed.

Thank you for this lovely pattern! It’s easy to follow, and it actually turns out like the photos (unlike some patterns I’ve tried from elsewhere online). Can’t wait to try your other patterns, too!
Thank you so much Anne, you really made my day! Please share photos if your makes it you feel like it!! 😊😊😊
Several shops of course, not ships! You’ve got to love autocorrect sometimes! 😁
All the snowflakes are so pretty! I really must get some yarn similar to yours and have a go. Thanks for sharing the pattern xx
It’s a pleasure Teresa, so glad you like them! It is really lovely yarn, there are several ships from Lithuania that sell it and it’s quite good value. Hope you post pics! Xx
