After a long while of being busy with other things and feeling impatient I am very happy to finally get the pattern for my Flower Wheel Coaster out. I developed it by tweaking my Sapphire Dream Square and have used the pattern for making coaster sets to sell in my Etsy shops and at Christmas Markets. And now the time has finally come to get it out! The most exciting thing about this pattern is that it will grow and mutate in a myriad different ways as the Flower Wheel Mandala Series – further patterns will come out over the summer and autumn!
I have made the coasters in 3 different yarns: Scheepjes Catona and a 3 mm hook, Drops Belle and a 4 mm hook and Drops Nepal and a 5 mm hook. The Catona coaster measures around 4 inches / 10 cm in diameter, the Belle one 5 inches / 13 cm and the Nepal one 6.4 inches / 16 cm in diameter.
The pattern is available in both US and UK terms below. Please remember that the pattern is my design and my copyright. Please feel free to use it for yourself, but you may not copy or publish the pattern as your own. If you sell what you make or post pictures of your makes I would appreciate if you mention where you got the pattern and direct people to my site. Thanks!
Notes:
Instead of ending each round with a ss and starting the next with a ss and chains, you can end each round with an invisible join and start the next round with a standing stitch (see guide here on how to do this). This especially makes sense if you change colour in each round. You can use any yarn for the coaster – just make sure you use the right hook size for the yarn. The coaster will grow and metamorphose in the future – stay posted for more!

This is a nice pattern nd working it all the way to blanket size makes a lovely piece.
However, there is a mistake in the pattern. Round 2 should be dc, ch1, dc, ch 1 in each sc. The pattern only calls for one dc in each stitch. This does not allow the piece to lay flat.
Sorry for the delay in response. The pattern is correct. Once you work the next round the stitches in this round stretch and it isn’t a problem. I’m pleased you like the pattern. 🙂
